Kennedy Commemorative Silver Dollar, along with a Uncirculated 1998-S Kennedy Silver Half Dollar struck with a matte finish. This special Half Dollar was only made available from the U. The matte finish requires two extra steps in the minting of the coin: sandblasting the face of the coinage die with a mixture of glass beads and aluminum oxide, and adding a hard-chrome plate to the die for hardness and lubricity. Both coins were released in 1998, were produced at the San Francisco Mint, and contain 90% Silver. The set comes with the original government packaging and certificate of authenticity.
